Yash Papers was one of the smaller players in the Indian paper market with its paper mill located at Faizabad. The mill capacity was 50 TPD and manufactured only kraft paper. With increasing demand of paper in India, Yash Papers went in for an expansion plan. This included increasing the production of kraft paper adding specialty paper and 26 to 80 gsm white & coloured poster paper to their product portfolio.

A new pulp mill having a capacity of 158 TPD was commissioned to replace the older pulp mill. The plant was designed to have the flexibility of using two local raw materials – wheat straw and baggase as feed to the pulp mill. The unbleached pulp mill that would supply pulp feed for kraft paper, was to have capacity of 158 TPD. In addition to this, a pulp bleaching street was required to supply pulp to a 70 TPD paper mill producing specialty paper and white & coloured poster paper.

In due course, because of the excellent relationship developed with the client, HDO also got the order for supply and commissioning of their effluent treatment plant without having to go through any bidding process.

Thus HDO’s scope of supply for this project comprised of:

• Pulp mill:
  
  • Continuous digester system
  • Brown stock washing system
  • Complete Bleaching & Washing system
  • Recausticizing plant
• Effluent Treatment Plant

These plants were successfully commissioned and handed over to the customer’s satisfaction in May 2008.

Accomplishments:

• HDO successfully commissioned the project on-time and delivered guaranteed performance
• The client was very happy with the paper mill provided by HDO and placed order for Effluent Treatment Plant with HDO without any bidding process
• HDO was able to provide major cost savings to the client as 90% of the equipment supplied was from the HDO manufacturing facility at Vatva, Ahmedabad
• This project sling shot Yash paper from a small player to a mid-sized player in Indian paper industry
