Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd. - 9 MLD Effluent Treatment Plant
Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd. (BORL) is a joint venture between Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) and Oman Oil Company Ltd. (OOCL) to set-up a 6 MMTPA Greenfield refinery at Bina in Madhya Pradesh, India.BORL wanted to adopt the concept of zero liquid effluent discharge for this project. Waste water and other liquid effluents generated in the refinery were to be minimized and fully recycled after a suitable effluent treatment.
HDO was awarded the turnkey complete EPC project to set up a 9 MLD Effluent Treatment Plant for this refinery. The plant comprises of below units for removal of various impurities from effluent.
- API and TPI separator for removal of free oil
- Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) unit for removal of emulsified oil
- Hydrogen Peroxide dosing for removal of sulphides
- Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) and Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) for biological treatment
- Chemical and biological Sludge Handling System comprising of thickener and centrifuge
Accomplishments:
- First integrated SBR, MBR and VOC effluent treatment plant in India
- Successful and timely plant completion despite difficulty in finding skilled work force in Bina
